Suosong Village
1. Under the jurisdiction of Mainling Town, Mainling County, Nyingchi City, Xizang Autonomous Region, Suosong Village nestles halfway up the northern mountain slope of the Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon, facing Namcha Barwa Peak across the Yarlung Tsangpo River at an average altitude of around 3,000 meters. Composed of two natural hamlets, Suo and Bai, it is dominated by indigenous Xizang residents who have inhabited here for generations. In 2022, it was honored as a Provincial-level Characteristic Border Tourism Village of Xizang Autonomous Region, serving as a core folk settlement and landmark scenic spot within the grand canyon scenic area.

Geographically perched on the cliffside of the Yarlung Tsangpo River Valley, the village lies roughly 10 kilometers away from the township seat and adjoins the core zone of Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon Scenic Area. Boasting unobstructed panoramic views, it ranks among the world’s premium vantage points to admire the golden sunrise over Namcha Barwa (China’s Most Beautiful Snow Mountain), sea of clouds and starry sky, earning the reputation of “Ultimate Paradise for Photographers” from tourism authorities and global photography circles.
1. Sacred Snowland View: Top-tier National Snow Mountain Observation Deck
• Directly facing the 7,782-meter-high Namcha Barwa Peak, listed among China’s Top 10 Most Beautiful Mountains by China National Geography, the village is acknowledged as the optimal viewing site for the iconic golden sunrise gilding the snow-capped summit, also dubbed “China’s Finest Snow Mountain Viewing Platform”.
2. Snowland Peach Blossom Paradise: Exclusive Spring Seasonal Landscape
• From late March to mid-April annually, centuries-old wild peach trees burst into full bloom across the hillsides, forming a picturesque floral scroll paired with snow-capped peaks, glistening river waters and green highland barley fields, renowned as China’s top peach blossom scenic wonder.
• It hosted the main venue of Nyingchi Peach Blossom Festival back in 2017.
3. Canyon Homestead at Valley Edge: Gateway to the World’s No.1 Grand Canyon
Sited on the landform of the AAAA-level Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon, the village’s terraced farmlands command sweeping unobstructed vistas of the canyon’s spectacular horseshoe-shaped bend and vast alluvial valley landscape in one glance.
• Traditional Civilization: A classic Xizang agrarian village retaining authentic traditional Xizang courtyard dwellings, local Xizang operas and distinctive ethnic festive customs.
• Tourism Economy: The village operates 53 family-run homestays with over 1,000 guest beds as of 2025. In 2024, the grand canyon scenic zone received 658,500 inbound tourists, generating a total tourism revenue of 106 million RMB.
